On Monday, August 24, 2020

I had the privilege of going to Washington, DC to visit 

with Doctor Jemsek. I was able to tour his clinic, 

meet the staff members, and hear about some progress

 that is being made in the field of Lyme Disease research. 

It was wonderful to catch up with my personal hero! 

I had not seen Dr J since I was his patient in North Carolina

 nearly 20 years ago. He was as warm, welcoming and humble as ever, and I was amazed by how much he remembered about me.

I presented him with copies of my third book, 

Enduring Courage, in which I based a character on Dr J.

 It was such a joy to honor him in this way, although I could never fully repay him for all he has done for me and countless others.
