Zara's fiance Daniel continued, "So there’s a case I’ve just been assigned, and it’s very intriguing, but I’d bet money it isn’t one anybody else would think of.” 
Sitting cross legged on the bed, Zara replied, “Okay, I must admit, this sounds promising. What makes you so sure no one else would focus on this particular case?”
Daniel reasoned, “Because it happened about 20 years ago. In my experience, most students tend to think of cold cases as ones that go back further than that, so they might not be likely to consider a case a little more recent.” Taking a seat beside her, he looked into her eyes, hoping his intensity wouldn’t betray his true motives.
Zara quietly considered his words and decided it was at least worth hearing about the case. If she wasn’t convinced, she didn’t have to use it.
“I’m intrigued. Tell me more,” she implored as she turned to face him.
“Well, as I said, I just got the case, so I don’t have all the details yet,” he lied. “From what I understand, there was this guy who went to his local bank trying to get a loan and was denied. The guy went berserk and shot a bunch of people in the bank.”
Surprised, she uncrossed her legs and stood abruptly. “What? That’s crazy! Who does something like that?” Zara began pacing around the room, the wheels in her mind starting to turn as she considered the potential of the story.
“Exactly my point, my dear,” Daniel muttered. “Who cold-bloodedly kills a bunch of innocent people over a denied loan?” There was an icy tone is his voice, but she didn’t seem to notice.
“Wait, what did you just say? He killed people?” This added a new level of interest to the case.
Sarcastically Daniel replied, “Well, yeah, he killed people! What did you think I meant?”
“I don’t know! I mean, you just said he shot, not killed,” Zara defended herself, frustrated by her fiance’s tone.
“If nobody died, it really wouldn’t be that much of a case, would it?” He snapped.
